Knowledge Level

The Knowledge Level is the first stage of the ACCA qualification. It introduces students to the basic principles of accounting, finance, and business, forming a strong foundation for higher-level ACCA papers. This level also leads to the certificate of the Diploma in Accounting and Business, recognising the successful completion of the foundational papers.

This level is ideal for beginners or students with little or no background in accounting.

Papers at Knowledge Level

The Knowledge Level consists of three papers:

  • Best approach:
    • Attempt 1 paper every 2–3 months
    • Complete Level 1 in 4–6 months comfortably
What is the eligibility for ACCA Level 1?
Students who have completed 10th (Commerce preferred) or graduates from any stream can enrol in ACCA Level 1.
What is the exam format for ACCA Level 1?
All Level 1 exams are computer-based and include objective-type questions.
What is the passing mark for ACCA Level 1 exams?
You need 50% to pass each paper. For example, if a paper has 100 marks, you need at least 50 marks to pass.
How many times can I attempt ACCA Level 1 exams?
There is no limit on the number of attempts. You can resit an exam as many times as needed until you pass.
What are the exam dates for ACCA Level 1?
ACCA Level 1 exams are computer-based and available throughout the year, depending on your Pearson VUE test centre’s schedule.
Can I get a job after completing ACCA Level 1?
Yes, after completing ACCA Level 1 (Applied Knowledge), you can apply for entry-level accounting or finance roles such as accounting assistant, accounts executive, bookkeeping assistant, or finance trainee. However, most higher-level roles require ACCA Level 2 and Level 3 completion.
